Red Mite Solution for Poultry, Chickens & Aviary Birds

Banshee Red Mite Solution is a New Zealand-made red mite management product designed to help deter poultry red mites in coops, nest boxes, perches, aviaries, and bird housing environments. Made using essential oils in a mineral oil base, this easy-to-use solution is commonly used as part of a broader poultry parasite management and coop hygiene routine.

Poultry red mites can become a significant issue in backyard poultry and aviary environments, particularly during warmer months. Heavy infestations may contribute to irritation, feather damage, reduced condition, nighttime restlessness, and stress within affected flocks.

Banshee works by helping disrupt mite activity within the environment, encouraging mites to leave treated areas over time. Suitable for backyard poultry, chickens, pigeons, aviary birds, ducks, turkeys, and mixed flocks, this product can be applied to housing areas as part of an ongoing environmental management strategy.

Available in 240ml bottles.

Helpful Resources

Effective parasite control involves more than treatment alone. Good coop hygiene, environmental management, monitoring, and supportive flock care all play important roles in reducing parasite pressure and maintaining long-term bird health.

Information

  • Safer with low toxicity from natural essential oils instead of harsh synthetic chemicals.
  • Low residual product.
  • Applied to surfaces, not directly to the birds resulting in less stress on the birds.
  • Always read the label before use.
  • No withholds

Directions

Banshee is straightforward and easy to use, only requiring a pressurized sprayer, such as a common ‘garden sprayer’ or ‘trigger sprayer’ found in hardware stores. The birds should be moved out of the area to be treated until the spray solution has dried.

The product is added to water at the correct use rate depending on the type of sprayer used:

  • 80ml per 5 litres of water for a garden sprayer, or 16ml per litre of water.
  • 80ml per 100m2 of treated area if a more elaborate professional or commercial sprayer is being used.
