Our vision is to improve bird health across Aotearoa through specialist veterinary care, rehabilitation, education, research, and disease surveillance.

Building the Hospital in Stages

Building a purpose-built avian hospital is a significant undertaking. Rather than waiting years until we can afford the final facility, we've chosen to build the hospital in carefully planned stages, allowing birds to benefit from specialist care much sooner.

A generous supporter has offered us a temporary site where we can establish our first clinic. Everything we build during this phase will eventually relocate to become part of our permanent hospital.

Phase One: Establish the Founding Clinic

Step 1: Secure the Clinic (Current Fundraising Goal)
Purchase and install a portable clinic building that will become the foundation of New Zealand's first dedicated not-for-profit avian hospital.

Step 2: Fit Out the Clinic
Complete the interior fit-out with treatment areas, biosecurity infrastructure, cabinetry, utilities and everything needed to prepare the clinic for operation.

Step 3: Equip the Clinic and Open Our Doors
Purchase essential veterinary equipment, patient housing and diagnostic tools so we can begin treating birds and providing specialist avian care.

More Than a Hospital

Improving bird health through care, education and collaboration.

Bird health in New Zealand is fragmented. Owners, vets, wildlife rehabilitators, students, researchers and industry all hold important pieces of the puzzle, but too often those pieces stay disconnected.

We are building a not-for-profit avian hospital to bring those pieces together.

This is more than a clinic. It is a place where birds can receive care, people can learn, knowledge can be shared, and better outcomes can be built for birds across New Zealand.

Our work is built around three core pillars:

Access to Care

Through nationwide telemedicine and, where needed, in-person consultations, we want more birds to be seen, supported and treated by people who understand them.

Education

We want to create practical learning opportunities for bird owners, veterinarians, vet nurses, students and wildlife rehabilitators, using real clinical cases and hands-on experience.

Collaboration

Bird health connects companion birds, backyard flocks, wildlife, poultry, surveillance and research. Our goal is to bring people together so knowledge is shared, not siloed.

June 2026

One of the biggest milestones in our journey has just happened.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Chris from Bioforce, we've been offered a temporary site in Mauku, South Auckland, where we can establish the Founding Clinic of New Zealand's first dedicated not-for-profit avian hospital.

This opportunity allows us to begin years sooner than we ever expected.

We're now obtaining quotes and refining plans for our portable clinic buildings, with our current fundraising focused on Step One: Securing the Founding Clinic.
