I was certain my birds leg wasn't broken but going to a vet would have put me in a situation where i wouldn't be able to pay for anaesthetic to get x-rays to ensure it wasn't a break. was so scared for my sons future but thanks to this option and the kind donators who made this possible i was able to get help and still be able to afford his treatment. he is making a full recovery.
thank you to the AE team for innovating the avian medical system and from the bottom of my heart thank you so very much to anybody who donates towards this. you are saving lives
Extremely helpful advice and prescription given during a stressful time for my poor chicken. She's not out of the woods yet, but doing much better.
The video call was a great option. My roster was too big to easily get to a vet. The quality of the call was great. Two consultants very caring and empathetic. They made me feel good about trying to heal a bird. Unfortunately Basil deteriorated. I followed the advice and picked up the medication. He was hungry after not being able to stand for so long to eat so i had no trouble getting the meds into him. However when his other leg started to go we had to do the kind thing and euthanise. The only thing questioned by my vet was the huge doses. She said doses same as for a large dog? Anyway i tried so i feel good
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review and for your kind words about the consult, weāre really glad the video call worked well for you and that you felt supported during such a difficult time.
Weāre very sorry to hear about Basilās outcome. You did everything you could for him, and making the decision to euthanise when his condition worsened was a compassionate and loving choice.
Regarding the dosing question your vet raised, birds have a much faster metabolism than mammals and often require proportionally higher dose rates, which can understandably look surprising when compared to small-animal dosing. This is a common area of confusion outside avian medicine.
We do encourage clients to book a free follow-up consult if questions or concerns arise, we regularly help walk people through supportive care, medication dosing, and administration, and weāre always happy to clarify things.
Thank you again for trusting us with Basilās care and for advocating so strongly for him.
You have both helped my girls and I so much, and I continue to go back to your information when needed. Congrats on 6k followers! Heres to many more, as what you guys offer is invaluable.
I would like to thank Jemma and Sam, for your kind advice and help for my Skylar.
Really helped my little budgie back to health. Both of them took gracious amount of time to talk about what I need to do for Skylar. Cleared of all the myths I have heard about budgies. Their suggestions were on-point and treatment plan was given straightaway. I learned more about how to take care of them better now.
šÆ % recommend!!!
Kind regards
