30 Minute Urgent Avian Consultation with Free Follow-Up Support
Need bird health guidance sooner? Our Urgent Avian Consultations are designed for bird owners requiring priority support where possible during our regular business hours.
Book a 30-minute Zoom consultation with Avian Empire and receive personalised bird health guidance from the comfort of your own home. Our online avian telemedicine consultations are designed to support bird owners across New Zealand with practical, evidence-based advice tailored to their bird's individual situation.
During your consultation, you will speak directly with Dr Sam Hurley, our avian veterinarian, alongside Jemma McLean, our avian rehabilitation and bird health consultant. Sam holds a veterinary degree and a master's in avian medicine, with well over a decade of experience in the poultry industry and hands-on work spanning backyard flocks to native wildlife. We work with a wide range of species including parrots, chickens, ducks, pigeons, canaries, aviary birds, and backyard poultry.
Consultations may cover general bird health concerns, husbandry, nutrition, behaviour, parasite management, supportive care, biosecurity, environmental management, flock health, and preventative care planning. Our goal is to provide accessible avian support while reducing the stress associated with travel for both birds and owners.
All consultations are completed online through Zoom and include free follow-up support related to your booked case.*

Really appreciated the call from Jemma as an immediate response and then the session with Sam too on the following day. My girl is still broody but is clearly far more comfortable after a dose of antibiotics to settle her underlying infection
Rusty is slightly better but still has a long way to go
So grateful for this service. So helpful and I learnt heaps in the half an hour consultation for my chicken.
