Mycoplasma PCR Test for Chickens & Poultry
Mycoplasma Complex PCR Test is an accurate laboratory PCR screening test designed to help detect important Mycoplasma species affecting chickens and poultry flocks. Using a simple swab sample, this assay assists with early detection of respiratory disease and can support flock management, quarantine, breeding, and biosecurity decisions.
Mycoplasma infections are a common cause of respiratory disease in poultry and may contribute to sneezing, nasal discharge, watery eyes, sinus swelling, reduced growth rates, drops in egg production, poor flock performance, and chronic respiratory issues.
Available as:
- Single bird PCR testing (1 swab)
- Pooled flock PCR testing (5 swabs)

What is Mycoplasma
What is Mycoplasma
Mycoplasma in poultry refers to infections caused by bacteria belonging to the genus Mycoplasma. These microorganisms are characterized by their lack of a cell wall, making them different from typical bacteria. In poultry farming, several Mycoplasma species can affect birds, with Mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG) and Mycoplasma synoviae (MS) being common culprits.
PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) is a molecular biology technique used to amplify and analyze DNA. In the context of Egg Drop Syndrome, PCR is employed to detect the presence of the virus in samples.
